Celebrating International Nurses Day

Posted on Posted in Uncategorised

We were thrilled to be invited to Croydon University Hospital this week to see their sculpture being unveiled by RCN President Cecilia Anim.

The design of the sculpture was the concept of  Mike Hayward, Programme Director – Listening Into Action, who wanted to represent the core values at the root of nursing.  The piece depicts the uniform worn by both of the founders of nursing, Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale, but to add the modern twist, this is ‘deconstructed’, to produce a range of beautiful shapes.  The values of nursing are then integrated through the shapes, focussing on what makes the profession so great.
